The End of Summer

Well the end of summer is very near and what a great summer it was. Yes, it is still warm enough for a few more weeks of swimming and splash parks, but with pre-school starting right around the corner (Tuesday, to be exact) our summer is coming to a close. We have had one great summer and have gotten to do a ton of fun things. No vacations this year, but plenty of memories we re made.

Harlen,
This is the summer you learned how to SWIM! You started the summer barely getting passed the steps in the pool and needing to be held in the water and tonight in the pool you were jumping in unassisted and swimming back to the steps by yourself. You can swim the length of the pool and quite fast. The crash course swim lessons you took were so perfect for you. I'm so proud of the amazing swimmer you have become and how you love it.
This is the summer you learned to swing on a big girl swing! With mommy having to push Oakley in the infant seat you figured out how to make yourself swing.
This is the summer you went to your first summer camp! You went to two actually, at the gym. It was fun to see your teachers over the summer break.
This is the summer that you and Oakley became the best of friends. You have become even more loving to him. I know it helps that he can now play with you. The days that we have nothing planned are so sweet because I get to watch you interact with him. Yes, you both fight sometimes, but you are so helpful, sweet and caring to him.
This is the summer you completed your first reading log from the library. You wanted to read so many books and were so attentive about asking me to make sure we added the ones we read to your reading log. You did an awesome job.
This is the summer you learned to ride a bike! You got it for Christmas and hadn't really been interested in it, but then we had a couple of weeks where it wasn't too too hot and we took advantage of it and got you on your bike. You started to love it and have become a fast little bike rider!

Oakley,
This is the summer you learned to walk!! About a week after your birthday you started taking steps and everyday you would take more and more steps by yourself. Now, you are good at walking quickly, turning around and going up and down small steps.
This is the summer you found a love of splash parks. The pool isn't that entertaining for you, but you love to be at the splash park. You don't mind the water in your face. You just toddle around with a ball or a bucket and stick it in the water and watch it spray. So fun.
This is the summer you started to love food. We started you off doing baby led weaning at 6 months, but you never really ate much or cared much passed the first bite or 2, but in the last couple of weeks you have really started to eat. You try just about anything and aren't very picky. Watermelon, grapes, chicken, goldfish, bananas, mandarin oranges and strawberries are your favorites.

It's been one awesome summer!
