Happy birthday Oakley!
Can't even believe it has been a year since you were born! That year sure flew right by. Seriously could not imagine our lives without you. You make our family complete. Just the other night, Harlen came home super late from being out with Grandma Mary and she came running in the door saying, "Where's my sweet chubby boy? Where's my Pokley?!" even though she knew you were asleep, she was way too excited to not see you right when she walked in the door. We all just love you to pieces.
In the passed 2 weeks you have really changed and developed new skills. You have taken a bunch of steps here and there and its so darn exciting! The amount you talk and babble and look right at people and tell them things is amazing. You pick up my phone, put it to your ear and say your version of HI! Or you grab it and look right at it and smile and try and kiss it because that's what we do when we FaceTime daddy. You have become quite shy and will hide your face or grab on to me or daddy whenever anyone tries to talk or touch you. Hopefully you will come out of your shell more and more. You have been eating more food lately. You still don't eat much but I notice when I put food on your high chair tray you make an attempt to really eat some of it now as opposed to just playing with it and you have started to really like the squeezy pouches of fruit and veggies.
Sleeping is going well for you. You usually take 2 naps a day. One around noon for a couple of hours and then a cat nap in the late afternoon. You are still nursing 4-5 times a day. You are wearing size 2-3t. You can wave, give high 5's, clap, and are understanding so many words.
This last week you had hand, foot and mouth disease. It was a rough 4 or 5 days. You were such a trooper and only had a fever and were really down for a day or 2 and then it was just waiting for the horrible rash to go away. The day before your birthday you woke up to completely healed skin!
The day of your birthday (we opted out of a party for you because we thought a party might be too crazy for your calm and shy personality), instead we had breakfast together, and then after nap we went to the Perot Museum downtown. You had the best time. You got to touch and feel different things, climb, explore and discover. We all had the best time. After, we let you open your presents, although sister really helped in that department and then we did your smash cake. You were not a fan of the cake. Since then, I have discovered you only like the cake part and not the icing. Anyway, it was a great day celebrating you.
Such a great year, such a great day and man are we lucky. Hope you had a wonderful day. We love you so very much!

In the sports area, you had to wait in line to try out the equipment o have your speed measured and you were freaking out just to get your hands on a football. |
